The Master of Chaos and Confusion Speaks

Friends,

The blog post below varies from my normal topics and approach. In the spirit of C.S. Lewis’s book, The Screwtape Letters, this fictional piece imagines what a high-ranking demon named Dolus, a master of chaos and confusion, might be saying to his legion of fallen angels in light of our world’s current culture.  I picked the name Dolus since it is Latin for trickery and deception.  Enjoy.

The Master of Chaos and Confusion Speaks

The Sons of Darkness had gathered to hear the insidious ideas of a senior demon.  And once again, Dolus sat in the seat of honor.   Known for his wicked laugh, Dolus savored the aroma of brimstone almost as much as he delighted in his diabolical accomplishments.

Dolus was no ordinary demon. It was he who planted seeds of doubt into the congregations of the Enemy, hastening their division until now there are more than 30,000 denominations. He mused, “Let the Enemy’s legions fight among themselves — that only leaves more souls for the Pit.”

It was Dolus who had first promoted the idea that unborn children were mere blobs of tissue, products of conception, or, at best, only potential human life.  His linguistic deceptions were legendary among all of the fallen ones.

It was he who had justified the renovation of the Gates of Hell. He insisted they be painted gold and emblazoned with floodlights creating a shimmering glow as if this was the COOL place to be. Too late would those who enter realize it was a one-way trip with no exit.

It was Dolus who had proposed deceptive ways to veil the truth.  Disguise it, redefine it, or downright deny it.  What better way to foment chaos and confusion than to deny that objective truth even exists. It worked on Pontius Pilate. This subtle diabolical snare never failed.

Yes, Dolus had a gift.  He had a knack for disguise, distortion, and redefinition.  Who else could drive a culture to redefine traditional marriage?  He even found a way to make the word “traditional” sound vile and archaic.  And he was well on the way to tainting ALL masculinity as something toxic.  Men would be afraid to be men!  He could laugh for a millennium on that thought alone.  He took insidious pride in his perverted skills of masking deceit as wisdom and molding the human mentality into something far removed from the wisdom of the Enemy’s Book.

As he rose to speak, the Hall grew quiet except for the constant backdrop of hissing from the Lake of Fire.  The muted screams of the damned served as background music to the Legion of Castaway Angels who had come to hear the latest from the Master of Deception.  Only Lucifer himself was known to be greater.

Dolus glared at his nefarious audience. His malicious scowl hinted at the vile lessons to be forthcoming.  He opened his mouth and uttered a despicable laugh that echoed through the Halls of Rebellion. He was a hunter of souls and he was good at it. Once the echoes subsided, Dolus’ venomous sneer excited his listeners to a fevered pitch.  Then he stood and spoke.

I am the Master of Chaos and Confusion. Listen and heed lest brimstone be your eternal diet.  My plan is working.  The Enemy’s beloved can no longer define what a woman is.  They are too busy debating pronouns, and have become obsessed with reducing people into categories of oppressed and oppressors. We must continue to plant the seeds of confusion into their hearts and minds.  Our loyal followers must shout down the opposition.  Accuse them of hate speech, protest their intolerance, and intimidate them to keep their anti-Dark rhetoric within the walls of their holier-than-thou camps.

Our plan to drive up the divorce rate and single motherhood is working.  Fatherlessness is rampant! Loneliness is epidemic and pornography reigns as the go-to media for the isolated and forlorn.  ‘It’s all about me’ has been our leader’s mantra. It should be their mantra as well. Keep our clients focused on themselves, and their eyes turned away from the Enemy.

Our ultimate goal is to create a culture of meaninglessness and purposelessness. Focus your fiery darts on these seven targets:

  1. Whatever is objectively true, promote the All-Things-Relative philosophy.
  2. Whatever is evil must be celebrated and promoted.
  3. Whatever is whole must be broken.
  4. Whatever is good must be stopped.
  5. Whatever is working must be undermined.
  6. Where there is faith, create doubt.
  7. Where there is unbelief, feed their pride.

Do these things and remember — as long as humans reject objective truth, humanity will have an unlimited capacity to believe the absurd.

There is never a No Vacancy sign for the Outer Darkness.  We have unlimited space for the narcissists.

Join me in the Crusade for Confusion and Chaos.”

At that, the Hall erupted with wrathful and loathsome cheering. Dolus inhaled the sulfuric aroma and grinned a malicious grin.  His fiery words had hit the mark.  He relished the idea that there would always be non-stop traffic entering the Golden Gates of Hades…unless…

Ah yes, he had but one unspoken fear.

That the Enemy’s Beloved would wake-up and realize that life is “not about me.” Worse, they would begin to grasp four life-changing truths:

  1. The Son of the Enemy had risen from the dead.
  2. The Son of the Enemy is Lord of all.
  3. The Son of the Enemy makes all things new.
  4. The Son of the Enemy had a purpose for their lives and had chosen them to be in this particular place and time.

The very thought sent shivers through his evil spirit. Such fears fed his rage.

Repentance, he remembered, is a forbidden word in Hell.

Wow! Well written Buddy! I would only hope this gets published and men of God proclaim the response, that God is a jealous God and will tolerate no others (and anything that detracts from Him is but a “god” an evil thing indeed. Our God reigns, and He will for all of eternity throughout all of the universe. May the Holy Spirit pour out over this world, and may there be a Great Awakening toward Yahweh, as never seen before. Please God, make it soon!

Well written. And on the mark with our distorted views in our culture. Prayers that we as Christ’s followers will stay steadfast. That we will be Christ-like people so as to witness through our actions/demeanor/words. Gladly we know Christ has the final victory.
