Were the angels standing in awe or
Lying prostrate before the throne?
Were they singing Hallelujahs or
Kneeling in silent wonder?
Where were the angels on Christmas Day?

The Nativity foretold,
Signaled by the stars.
Seeking to worship the newborn King,
Wise men traveled from afar.
But where were the angels on Christmas Day?

Shepherds quaked.
Herod trembled.
Joseph prayed.
Mary pondered.
But where were the angels on Christmas Day?

Immanuel lay in a manger.
Redemption drew nigh.
The Hope of the world was born this night.
A promise fulfilled in a newborn’s cry.
But where were the angels on Christmas Day?

Gathered around the Holy Family,
Heralding the kingly birth,
Proclaiming good tidings,
Glorifying God.
Yes, there were angels on Christmas Day!

Angelic hosts filled the heavens,
Celebrating!
Praising!
Rejoicing!
Singing!
And their joyous strains still echo throughout Creation.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!
