I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. Seems to take forever to go to sleep, only to wake up in the middle of the night, wide awake. Insomnia reigns. Call it too much stress, too many thoughts on my mind, or perhaps post-surgical restless leg syndrome. Whatever you call it, it makes a daily afternoon nap inevitable.
Hearing my complaints, my wife’s sympathetic sigh offered some hope.
She approached me and kissed me slowly, tenderly, and lovingly. And softly whispered, “I know what can cure your sleeplessness! I’m thinking something sweet and hot.” It was a comforting thought — one that created some anticipation on my part. Was that my heart that skipped a beat?
For the first time in a long while, I was looking forward to going to bed.
I know what you are thinking. And you are right! Yes, my wife’s suggestion worked. I slept like a baby that night.
It’s amazing what a steaming cup of hot chamomile tea and a melatonin gummy bear can do.
I sure married an intelligent and thoughtful woman!
